The Spritz and Limoncello: An Italian Aperitivo at Home
The hour before dinner, the Italian way: a spritz to open, a limoncello to close.

The aperitivo
In Italy, the aperitivo is the drink before dinner, meant to open the appetite rather than fill it. Bitter, citrus and herbal flavours do that work, which is why the spritz, a bitter aperitivo lengthened with sparkling wine and soda, has become its most familiar form.
Mixing a spritz
In a large stemmed glass over ice, mix two parts Covalli Aperitivo with three parts Prosecco. Add a splash of sparkling mineral water or soda, and garnish with a slice of orange.
Covalli Aperitivo is bright red, with herbs and citrus on the nose and orange and rhubarb on the palate: sweet at first, with a slight bitter finish.
Limoncello
Limoncello is a liqueur of lemon peel infused in alcohol and sweetened. Covalli Limoncello is bright yellow, intense and citrusy with floral notes. Serve it ice cold, at about 6 °C, after dinner, or lengthen it with Prosecco for a lemon spritz.
Ready to drink
For an aperitivo without mixing, the Covalli Aperitivo Spritz and Covalli Limoncello Spritz come ready to pour. Serve them chilled, over ice.
